Abstract: This study examines the sequence of events that led the Indian Nationalist Leader, Shri Subhas Chandra Bose, to ask Adolf Hitler for the assistance of Nazi Germany in India’s Struggle for Independence from the British rule. This event of historic significance has been depicted by the media and the then Indian leaders as a black spot on his character by branding him as a ‘Nazi collaborator.’ This study, hence, also examines the activities of Bose in Nazi Germany during World War II, and tries to reach to a conclusion if his intentions were solely a nationalist one or a collaborative one.
